Originally an email message written by Ben Broome, who sent it from Nicosia, Cyprus on 8 November 1996 to Roy Smith, in London, England and also to Warfield in Fairfax, Virginia. When Warfield received this email, he inserted several amendments, pasting them into the email text between some of Broome's paragraphs. As an informal guide for facilitators, the email message, with Warfield's amendments, has been in use both in the U. S. and in England. This document was also added as an Appendix to another informal guide for facilitators which Rose Warfield had compiled in 1996, titled "Notations for Watching ISM Videos." What follows is Rose Warfield's annotation for this paper written for the BY OTHERS table of the database, where this document was filed under the title "Methodology for Categorization" which was Broome's Subject for the message in its original email transmission. "A very helpful email for facilitators this is a step by step on how to name the categories when working with a group session doing ISM. It was written by Ben in response to questions by Roy Smith who was doing facilitating in England. Ben sent the email from Cyprus where he was working with Interactive Management groups. Ben's instructions were so helpful that John copied the email, added a few edits and kept as a separate document for facilitator training. John did not change any of Ben's words, but added headings to the paragraphs, and also inserted a few short notes about the process. An unedited version of Broome's email is also in the files, as an appendix to the document "Notations for Watching ISM Videos" in Box 11 Folder 25."

"Categorizing Process in Interactive Management" was the title given the paper by Warfield when he edited it and prepared it for further circulation from his office. Different title but identical paper.
