A copy of this review begins on page 28 of the PDF document "Book Reviews-Societal Systems&ASOGD." As is customary, an anonymous outside review was solicited by GMU Press before accepting John's book A Science of Generic Design. The book manuscript was highly recommended for publication by the anonymous reviewer. The book was rejected in 1989 by GMU Press. In 1989 or early 1990, after rejection of his book by GMU, Warfield asked Rose Warfield to go over to the GMU Press office and request return of the manuscript and all other materials they had on his book. Rose did so, but the book manuscript was not returned at that time. Warfield's request was eventually acted upon after about 2 years. I know it was 1992 when the manuscript was finally returned, sent back to Warfield's office in a campus mail envelope. It was not until then that we learned who had sent the favorable anonymous review. The review was signed "Raymond L. Fitz, President (Br.) University of Dayton." Ray had signed his review when he sent it to GMU, and the GMU Press secretary had made a copy of his signed letter to include with the returned manuscript. Warfield had seen an unsigned copy of the review earlier, but not known who had written it, since Ray's name had been blocked out on the copy sent to John in 1989.
