Complexity Management in Policy Design

Presentation given at AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science [MISSING LINK]) 1200 New York Avenue, N.W. Washington, D.C., 13 May 1997. Includes transparencies used, statistical analysis of AAS group by training and government assignment during their fellowship, a pop quiz and a list of collected cells. See also, "Readings for Bureaucrats," which Warfield produced for this talk and provided as a handout.

This was an invited presentation before a meeting of the AAAS Fellows on 13 May 1997. Has several sections, described below.

1) a transparency used as title page for the talk

2) a topical outline for the talk

3) a statistical analysis of the AAAS group, by training and by type of government assignment during their fellowship year. Warfield compiled this list a few days before the talk.

4) "Overview" a formal talk preparation, with outline with list of cells

5) a pop quiz (titled Scientific Jeopardy) given to the Fellows group at the beginning of the talk

6) an alphabetized list of cells collected prior to the talk

7) a second list of cells, arranged topically, compiled the day after he gave the talk.

In addition to above items which are all grouped together, there is another document given the attendees as a handout. It is an IASIS monograph prepared specifically for this talk, titled "Readings for Bureaucrats." It is also in this database, by title.
