How to Design a Meeting: Context, Content, Process

Describes the origins and the purposes of the methods used Interactive Management. It is the sixth in a series of essays written by Warfield forShort Circuit: The Newsletter of Engineering Empowerment.

The sixth in a series of essays written by Warfield for this newsletter, this manuscript was sent to newsletter editor Bill Livingston on 30 August 1997. We do not yet have the date of its appearance in Livingston's newsletter. Also Warfield says maybe Bill has gone exclusively to the Internet by now, and might not be printing hard copy any more. We will have to wait and see. The manuscript describes the origins and the purposes of the methods used Interactive Management. The opening paragraph begins: "I'm sure you have been to meetings that were totally frustrating to you. I certainly have had that experience many times. When I took my first job, the department had monthly meetings. The topics seemed to be the same every time. The people who spoke seemed to be the same every time. The messages they delivered were repeated every time. It was like watching a video where the two ends of the tape were connected…" (r.w. circa 2007)
