Warfield's subtitle for this document is: A partial listing and categorization of digitized components from the John N. Warfield Digital Collection at the Fenwick Library, George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia, February 8, 2009. WARFIELD DID NOT INVENT THESE CATEGORIES, THEY ARE THE CATEGORY TERMS USED BY LIBRARY STAFF WHEN CREATING A LIST OF PAPERS TO DISPLAY ON THE NEW WARFIELD DIGITAL COLLECTION. ALL WARFIELD DID WAS WORK THROUGH THE TITLES AND SEPARATE THEM BY CATEGORY, HE DID IT MANUALLY, BUT NO DOUBT THERE IS SOFTWARE SUCH AS ACCESS DATABASE THAT COULD FILTER OUT AND GROUP THESE TITLES BY CATEGORY IN ABOUT 2 MINUTES, IF SOMEONE KNEW HOW TO DO IT, AND HAD THE SOFTWARE TO DO IT. I can do this sort of category grouping with Access database very easily and quickly. But poor Warfield took quite a long time to go through the lists and get the titles separated. Warfield refuses to learn to use a database instead just putters away with the old fashioned lists of lists until he gets it right. For his ALPHA 2 file, he ended up with a useful document, however, which could have been used on Warfield Digital Collection web page had there been anybody there to add it to the program. Maybe Tom and Dan can use it on the Warfield web page if GMU is happy with the idea of our adding links. Another file with categorized lists is titled: ISM results, problematique-Digital Collection categories.pdf Both these files created by Warfield in preparation for a telephone interview with Kathleen Kehoe, but actually they are his efforts to get better use of the digital collection. His list of categories can be used on the jnw web page, maybe , so that is why I am saving these documents.
