Notations for Watching ISM Videos: Explanation of What is Happening On and Off Camera During an Interactive Management Workshop

Description of the step-by-step sequence for a typical Interactive Management Workshop. Notes will be helpful to people who borrowed the Interactive Management Workshop videos to study Interpretive Structural Modeling and help explain what is happening. Includes copy of email written by Benjamin Broome on how to do category naming.

Written by Rose Warfield, volunteer in the IASIS office at George Mason University. She has described the step-by-step sequence for a typical Interactive Management Workshop. These notes will be helpful to people who borrowed the IM Workshop videos to study ISM because, if you look at the workshop videos for the first time, you don't exactly know what is happening, or why it is happening. Also, at the end of the manuscript, is an addendum, a copy of an Email written by Ben Broome on how to do category naming. The manuscript has been reviewed and corrected by Warfield, but mostly he let Rose tell it in her own words. In a February 1999 update, John has added two paragraphs in which he discusses the importance of facilitators taking time to interpret structural models to the participants.
