This document was written in May, 2004 and became a donation to GMU Library on July 12, 2004 - part of the contents of a box full of items brought by Warfield on a visit to Fairfax the week of July 12-19. The 6 page document was added to the Warfield Special Collection at that time, and placed in Box 81 Folder 14. The document was also added to the Warfield Digital Collection in May 2009. Meanwhile, in Florida, the document became the Preface for Warfield's book "A Guide to the John N. Warfield Collection 2nd ed" (a small bibliography published in Palm Harbor, Florida by AJAR in October 2004.) Note: this "Guide" was the second edition of an already existing "first edition" Guide to Warfield Collection in Box 98 Folder 6 at Fenwick Library. The Second Edition "Guide," containing this Preface is not listed in GMU catalogs or finding aids, although the published 2nd edition book was sent to the Special Collection & Archives department in October 2004 as an addition to the Warfield Collection. We believe that through some mishap the Second Edition (containing this paper as its Preface) has been misplaced, probably because of similarity of title to the already listed "first edition.' donated earlier.
