Proste Modele Systemowe Oparte Na Skomplikowanych Zalozeniach: Klucz do Spojnosci w Zlozonym Uniwersum

Published in Polish, this paper deals with the use of a Generic Design Science to organize knowledge prior to its use in construction of working models. The Domain of Science diagram is used as a key to organization of knowledge. Topics in this paper include "referential transparency" "deep and shallow logic" "developing a science of design" and "detractors to effective system design", which was a table showing effects of variety, parsimony, saliency and a Demosophia on the process of effective decision-making. The English title is “Simple System Models Based on Sophisticated Assumptions”.

The paper was not published in English, but was published in Polish under the title "Proste Modele Systemowe Oparte Na Skomplikowanych Zalozeniach: Klucz do Spojnosci w Zlozonym Uniwersum".(Simple System Models Based on Sophisticated Assumptions) 1989/00/00. An English language manuscript is listed in Warfield Collection Finding aid at George Mason University as follows: "Simple System Models Based On Sophisticated Assumptions," [John N. Warfield] February 12, 1988 (Box 35 , Folder 29 ). The Polish version is in Box 82, Folder 11.

The manuscript includes a figure of Warfield's DOMAIN OF SCIENCE MODEL the figure which was first shown on transparencies in a talk at Virginia Beach in 1986, and later used as the cover for his 1990 book titled "A Science of Generic Design."Prepared for the 1988 Annual meeting of the American Association for Advancement of Science (AAAS), the paper was to be presented at 2:30 p.m. 12 Feb. at Hynes Convention Center, Boston, as part of the SCIENCE AS A SYSTEM symposium chaired by Russell Ackoff. The paper was never presented, due to a bad snowstorm in Boston on 12 February. Warfield never got to that conference; his flight from La Guardia Airport to Boston circled quite a while, never landed, returned him to New York, and he came back home. Later, Warfield sent the paper to Gasparski, editor of the Polish journal. The article was translated into Polish, and was published in the journal Zagadnienia Naukoznawstwa (Science of Science), published in Warsaw, Polish Academy of Sciences, No. 3-4, 1989, pp. 653-662.
