In Fenwick Library Special Collections room a GMU, Box 32 folder 31 holds misc papers from the African presentations including what is described below. I can’t tell for sure which is which without a personal trip to the George Mason University Library, which is not possible at my age. John came home with a huge jumble of papers which no one has ever straightened out to a satisfactory conclusion, although I have tried. R.w. 8/26/2015.
Our best judgement is that the talk outline for Warfield's 1990 presentation to the CSIR board was a cell-pack titled: "DESIGNING A CONTRACT RESEARCH INSTITUTE". The cell-pack document contains on page 2 the legends used for "What Is Missing from this Picture" cells, in four boxes. It is a 4-page cell-pack, consists of one table and an introductory paragraph on page 1, followed by three pages of cells on the same subject - problems in Ghana. P. 2 - WHAT IS MISSING FROM THIS PICTURE? P. 3 - DESIGNING A CONTRACT RESEARCH INSTITUTE P. 4 - Nation - Research Institute(s) are compared, in a tabular format. The date printed on this table is 1992. But Warfield thinks, as well as he can recall, that this document containing the table must have been created after he got a new computer, and that his actual presentation was either in 1990 or 1989, one of his two early trips to Ghana. We still aren't sure whether he used these cells in 1989, on his first visit, or in 1990, but the 1990 date seems more likely.
