I have not yet found the notes John made for the Beijing lecture session, but any notes he used were probably the springboard for a great number of topics since Dr. Wang had provided a lengthy period of time for this lecture at the Beijing Academy. Dr. Shouyang Wang was the organizer for John's talk, an informal session of an hour or more of discussion with a learned and interested group, around the conference table in a room at Shouyang's Institute for Systems Science in the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Attendees were persons from the Institute and also from other CAS departments. The day after Warfield's Beijing talk we traveled with Dr. Wang to Shanghai where both men attended the (ICM-98), Jaio Tong University conference where John was scheduled as one of the keynote speakers. After the Shanghai conference, I still had the poster from Shouyang's Beijing meeting. It had been drawn with inked Chinese alphabet lettering and had been posted on the hall door in the Chinese Academy building, announcing the Warfield lecture. Probably Shouyang or one of his students created that poster by hand the day before the meeting, it was nothing elaborate, but very appealing, somehow. It was just a plain piece of rather inexpensive paper (paper was precious in those days even in Academies of Science) about 15 X 24 inches. We folded up Shouyang's poster and took it home in suitcase. I don't know where that poster is now, I haven't seen it for a long time. (Note by r.w. circa 2008.)
Well, I found Dr. Wang's Chinese poster again, in my files at home after nearly 20 years. I took his poster to a print shop and got it scanned to pdf for memory of a very fine man who was our host and friend. The poster now has a filename:"Souvenir of CAS lecture, Beijing 1998.pdf" I have it scanned in two sizes, first to fit an 8 x 11 page, and a second file scanned to its larger poster dimensions: "SouvenirPoster,lecture,Beijing1998(actualsize).pdf" (r.w. August 24, 2016).
