From three reference sources Warfield condensed and collected a single packet of tables and presentation pages to focus attention on the declining standards and declining quality of higher education in the U.S. In this talk (the first of three on the subject) the problems are outlined, while future talks will concentrate on possible solutions. After the series of 12 Complexity Lectures was finished, copies of the transparencies pages became part of a tape-bound report titled George Mason University Johnson Center Lecture Series on Complexity, Lecture Group 1. The report is in Box 36, Folder 10 of GMU's Warfield Collection C0016 at Fenwick Library. Lecture 4 was videotaped by GMU student video center, and the single tape cassette is in Box 67 of the Warfield Collection.
