Why Johnny Can't Design Software, Lecture 10

PowerPoint slides to accompany “Why Johnny Can’t Design Software,” which Warfield planned to be Number 10 in a series of 14 videotapes to be called “Managing the Unmanageable.” In it he reviews his ideas on current software writing patterns and suggests that his Structure-Based Science of Design be implemented as an antidote. Originally presented at IEEE Southern Maryland Joint Communications, Computers and Electromagnetic Compatibility Chapters, Lexington Park, MD, 24 April 2000.

Sent to GMU on 31 Jan 2001. This is a set of PowerPoint printouts of slides prepared for a talk given for an IEEE meeting on 25 April 2000. Also Warfield took the slides to England with him, for use in a short course taught at University of Hull in 2001. O In his role as IEEE Computer Society Distinguished Lecturer, Warfield reviews his ideas on current software writing patterns, recommends that the Warfield Structure-Based Science of Design be implemented as an antidote. There is a series of 19 Powerpoint slides, plus a page of references. This lecture titled "Why Johnny Can't Design Software" is planned by Warfield to be Number 10 in a series of 14 videotapes to be called "Managing the Unmanageable." However, as of March 2007 the videotape for this lecture has not been filmed. John also has several manuscript versions & outlines for the talk, The talk is titled "Factors in Johnny's Incompetence in Software Design" the files are in filenames:  MTU 10April24IncompetenceFactors & MTU 10April24IncompetenceFactorsRevision1.wpd & MTU10April24SoftwareDesign.wpd, & MTU10APRIL24Questions.wpd which I have found in 2007 and will ask GMU to put into the Box 21 Folder 14, since they are all small one-pagers.
