An Interactive Management Workshop took place in mid August in Kalamazoo, Michigan, sponsored by Parker-Hannifin Corporation. I don't suppose we will get an IM REPORT since it is probably company confidential stuff, but it is nice to know another workshop is pegged up to Interactive Management. What mementos we did get are all assembled on Rose's computer in the file folder PARKER-HANNEFIN Email messages received on 12 August 2007 from Jack Ring and from Ben Broome both of whom were at the Parker Hannefin workshop in Milwaukee 8-10 August 2007 described the event as successful and Broome sent 3 or 4 pictures. Carmen Moreno from Monterrey Mexico had been able to assemble the needed workers, including getting Ben Broome to help which was a blessing. Ben in his email said Mr. Krane "did a first class job as broker" and no wonder after the time Warfield spent telling him the importance of the Broker role and how to do it right, as well as all the other roles in the schema. Warfield said he had tried very hard to scare Mr. Krane to death so that he would either do it right or not at all. In the group picture, Ben Broome is seated in the center, wearing a blue shirt, Carmen Moreno in front row wearing pink sweater, Phil Ernzen standing on the far right. I am trying to figure out which one is Mr. Krane is in the group picture. If he is there he is either the man in the center back with eyeglasses in maroon shirt, or the man standing on far left of the back row in the pale green shirt. The man next to Phil Ernzen might be Jack Ring, we think, but we are not sure.

Jack Ring (who assisted Broome as co-facilitator) might not be in the group picture but Jack is for sure in the other photos showing the workshop tables. He is seated near the door on the far left. Also we got another nice email and photos from Carmen on 22 Aug the workshop had taken place for Parker HSD in Kalamazoo Michigan on 8-10 August and the sponsors were very pleased with the work and they expect to continue with a second workshop. Carmen's business associate was also there working at the workshop her name is Brenda Ramerez.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN. Mr. Steve Krane (Parker Hannefin Aerospace Group) contacted Warfield 27 Feb 2000 by email, asking to get name of a facilitator who would do an IM session for him…" using IM at Parker to clarify and select a path to achieve the growth objectives set by the Corporation. I need to find an interested and suitable IM facilitator …" After further email messages, at Warfield's invitation Mr. Krane traveled to Alabama to visit our home and talk to Warfield about using Interactive Management in his company. Mr. Krane came in March 2007, took a plane from California to Memphis, then drove to Sheffield, stayed here for hours, arriving around 9 or 10 am and not departing until 2 or 3 in the afternoon. He had lunch here at our house, talking to Warfield and asking questions about Warfield's IM process. Warfield had spent the week before rearranging his office so as to have more accessible the materials he could show Mr. Krane and talk about. Warfield showed some of the Ford workshop videos for Mr. Krane, and explained what was happening during each scene they watched. Also Warfield gave Mr. Krane some CD's describing his work, I believe, also copies of numerous documents. I did not make a list of all the stuff Warfield gave away, just as I failed so many times before in that regard. Warfield talked almost non-stop while he was here, answering questions and trying every way he knew to explain Warfield work and methods. As many times before, while listening to Warfield talking about how to do Interactive Management, I wished for a good tape recorder to take down what Warfield was saying to Mr. Krane, since conversation helps so much in the understanding of how to make a company agree to the participating roles that must be done right in order to make a workshop go well. I told Warfield after Mr. Krane left that he had just given about a thousand dollars’ worth of free consulting to the man. "I know it" said Warfield, "but maybe something will come of it. And if so, it's worth it. If not, just forget him and write him off like all the others." Warfield had tried to convince Mr. Krane that he needed not simply "a facilitator" but a complete Interactive Workshop with long range follow up, and told him how to do it. Warfield tried to find people who might work with him, but Ben Broome was out of town and not many others who knew enough to do it. Warfield talked about it with Scott Staley who of course could not do the work, but volunteered to go to Milwaukee and give a talk free of charge to Parker executives about the success in Ford Motor Company. Warfield also tried to contact Mexicans who knew about Interactive Management. Roxana was out of town doing a project for Mexican government, but Warfield did get an email to Carmen telling her about the opportunity. Warfield told Mr. Krane a lot about the Mexican work with IM, including praise for Carmen and her abilities. Mr. Krane had been very interested in Warfield's Mexican connections, because he said his company was hoping to expand their operations into Mexico and were looking for how to do so. It was Carmen who responded, finally. In spite of being very busy she was able to get something going. In an email a month or two later, she told Warfield that she and some of her Mexican friends will try to put on a workshop for the Parker-Hannefin company. Sure enough, it all worked out. Of course now the big “IF” is whether the follow up workshops will continue in the company, as Warfield hopes. A first time problem identification is not the whole job. Just have to wait and see.
