This paper was part of Warfield's collection for his Economics Research studies. He had placed a copy of it in his Economics Research Note-binder No. 6 and listed it in his Index of economics research papers. The full title: Index to Paul Rabinow, ed. The Foucault Reader (New York: Pantheon, 1984) prepared by John N. Warfield, December 2000. Warfield found the book by Rabinow very helpful in his study of Foucault, except that there was no index, so he made one. Warfield says that he isn't positive but he thinks he might have written to Rabinow to tell him about it and ask if he wanted a copy. I am not sure if Rabinow replied or ever got a copy sent by Warfield. Maybe he didn't want one? No one remembers for sure about this. Question: Why are some of the index entries in this old manuscript marked with a pink highlight pen? I asked Warfield (in 2007) and he looked at the pages but then said "I have no idea." For all we know this could have been a first draft later corrected? Warfield lost the original document in a computer crash several years back, so there is no way to check on it.
