Systems Science in a University Setting-Part 1-Work Plan for Short Course

This is one of two manuals given as handouts for the Simpsons-Dagli-Alberts Systems Science Program Short Course held 11-15 July 2007 in Sheffield, Alabama. The documents are chiefly figures or copies of PowerPoint slides, interspersed with written text by Warfield. See also, “Systems Science in a University Setting- Emails,” “Systems Science in a University Setting-Part 2-Structural Presentations,” and "Systems Science in a University Setting - Notes, with List of Materials."

When first printed, the manual was named “Systems Science Program Part 1.” Warfield later renamed it “Systems Science in a University Setting Part 1-Work Plan for Short Course.” It is a manuscript collection in a spiral bound 57 page booklet with a yellow cover. It was patched together from a number of other papers, plus possibly new fragments written by Warfield just for the short course. Warfield said that he had collected a lot of materials into a huge file on his computer called COURSEGRABBAG. Over the course of several weeks, in Spring 2007, he pulled from GRAB BAG the items which he finally assembled into the yellow booklet for use in the short course. Pages 1-3 of the manual is a 12-part outline of the short course divided into segments so that visitors could select the areas of most interest to them; Warfield would attempt to discuss those segments first. (In Warfield's numbering system on these pages, the capital letter "M" means Major topic, while the Arabic numerals refer to subtopics.) Pages 4-57 contain 39 different documents, mostly excerpts from a variety of Warfield publications and writings. All 39 are itemized in the "Contents" list at front of the manual.

Title and page number of each document is given:
