"A Digital Computer Program for the Reduction of Logic Statements to a Minimal Form, " J. N. Warfield and K.· J. Butler, Proc NEC, v 15, 1959. While we were living in Kansas, Warfield for some reason was unable to attend this conference, but persuaded his co-author, graduate student Kenneth Butler, to go and present the paper. Kenneth was terrified, but did it. Warfield was always happy about getting the shy Kenneth through a hoop so difficult for many young graduate students, by insisting Ken could present the paper alone. Warfield never lost an opportunity to promote the co-authorship of students, and regretted that he did not have more graduate students in his later isolated years at GMU. Kenneth got a job working for Singer Corp in California, after graduation. The Butlers and Warfields both moved from Kansas within a few years, remained long distance friends until Kenneth's death from Lou Gehrig's disease. Rose Warfield found this title from one of Warfield's old vitae. We don't have a copy of the paper, but GMU does have it. It was in one of the earliest shipments to GMU. I don't know if it an offprint or a typescript.
