The Mathematics of Structure FIGURE PAGES (these are simply scanned copies of pages from book) - Where are the drawings for Mathematics of Structure?- Mathematics of Structure is merely a reprint of the seven chapters of Societal Systems which deal with mathematics. John Warfield’s original drawings for Societal Systems 1976 are the same as the figures printed in Mathematics of Structure 2003. But where are the original drawings? John Wiley the publisher got John's original manuscript and did the type setting of script and figures, for the book Societal Systems. This was in 1976. All the old documents associated with Societal Systems were donated to Special Collections at George Mason University but a look at their catalog list does not disclose evidence of figure pages, or even of the original manuscript. In 1989, Intersystems published a reprint of Societal Systems. All they did was copy the original pages from the published book.. (One page, p 231, was changed. It had a math error discovered a year or two after 1976 printing. Intersystems inserted a corrected page 231 for the 1989) In 2002 John worked on retyping Societal Systems’ math chapters (chapters 8 through 14) into WordPerfect, in order to digitize the book. But apparently he did not digitize the 23 figures used in Math of Structure 2003. There are blank areas left in his digital version of Chapters 8 - 14, to leave space for insertion of figures. In 2003 in Clearwater, Florida the reprint of Chapters 8 - 14 was issued under the title Mathematics of Structure. It was a copy job done by Sir Speedy Printers. Jerry Schaefer, the Sir Speedy manager did the work. He copied a printout of John’s WordPerfect document which had blank areas for figures. And Jerry Schaefer must have inserted the 23 figures manually, one at a time during the publishing process. Where did Jerry get the figures, and where are those drawings now? In 2011Rose found a note-binder holding 22 loose figure pages from Mathematics of Structure. All of the needed drawings for a re-issue of Mathematics of Structure are on these 22 loose pages. These loose pages seem to be the only copy of the drawings, unless we go to the Societal Systems 1976 edition and scan the figures all over again. Rose scanned the 22 pages. They are saved on Rose’s home computer in filename <The Mathematics of Structure Figures.pdf>

In 2014 Dan Warfield contacted Sir Speedy Printers in Florida, to ask if they still had the originals from the 2003 reprint of Mathematics of Structure. It was too late. Sir Speedy was under new management, their old records had been discarded. As I write this memo, I am not able to go back again to the GMU library to look at the Special Collection items. I truly hope the Special Collection still has old documents containing all the Societal Systems figures. But I don't know whether John's first drawings are in Warfield Special Collection or not. SO THAT IS WHY I AM SAVING THESE DRAWINGS ON HOME COMPUTER. (r.w. Jan 1, 2016)
