Linguistic Gradations in Conceptualization

This material is part of the working papers which preceded a published article titled “ Artificial Philosophy and the Decline of Technology.” Includes a two page paper titled “Linguistic Gradations in Conceptualization,” a one page paper titled “Priors and the Doctrine of Necessity,” a one page paper titled “Introduction,” and finally there are eleven pages with handwritten notations by Warfield.

I don't think I ever sent this to GMU. If there is a hard copy it is probably in UNPU’BLISHED BOX. It is a short piece which apparently Warfield used in his book Understanding Complexity, but it should also be available as an unpublished document. There are four typewritten pages, some lines marked with yellow highlighter, plus eleven handwritten pages of notes. This material is part of the working papers which preceded a published article titled “Artificial Philosophy and the Decline of Technology.” These pages can be dated as having been written before the conference of September 1989 in Lisbon, Portugal where the finished paper “Artificial Philosophy and the Decline of Technology” was presented and later published in a Proceedings volume. First is a two page paper titled “Linguistic Gradations in Conceptualization.” Second is a one page paper titled “Priors and the Doctrine of Necessity”. Third is a one page paper titled “Introduction” finally there are eleven pages with handwritten notations by Warfield. I will first contact GMU’s Special Collections department, to find out if they want these handwritten pages, if so I will send them as additions to some other working papers for "Artificial Philosophy & the Decline of Technology", which are now in Box 94 Folder 10 of Warfield Special Collection. Special Collections already has the offprint, in Box 50 Folder 2.

Post-note: written July 2013: I never contacted GMU on this yet, I don't think. Scanned by me in 2012 but I don’t know where the hard copy is. If it had John’s handwriting I don’t think I would have discarded the hard copy. Must be in a box at Dan’s house.
