See also: Redesigning the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) for the 1990's. February, 1986. Video Tape (VHS) . This cassette, labelled (#1) is the first and only tape we have for this day, 13 January 1986. It appears to be the first of a group of seven VHS cassettes filmed in January, 1986.
The label and numbering system on the NMFS cassettes is confusing. Perhaps CIM staff used different numbering systems to mark the tapes, on different days! Perhaps some of the cassettes have been lost when the office was moved. I haven't viewed the NMFS Videos, so I don't know the length nor the exact content of any of the cassettes. It can be assumed that most of the VHS tapes are 120 minutes in length, because usual procedure when filming an IM workshop was to run the camera nonstop until the two-hour tape was full, then change the tape and run the camera again non stop another two hours until the tape is full or the session has ended. There is also an eighth January cassette “NATIONAL MARINE FISHERIES SERVICE (N.M.F.S) ,TAPE 4 OF 4,”. It is a 3/4 inch cassette and although stored in a separate box, and listed separately in the GMU Special Collection Finding Aid. I am pretty sure it is the master for all January, 1986 sessions. This NMFS IM Workshop project lasted for 4 ½ months, ending 16 January, 1986.
