This is Number One of a set of four VHS tapes. It holds 1 videotaped LECTURE, using PowerPoint slides which Warfield prepared himself. It was part of a planned series of 14 lectures. This VHS tape was derived from a BetaCamSP master filmed at George Washington University Television studio in Washington, D.C. on 16 June2000. The tape is in Cassette Number 1 of a set of four VHS cassettes given to Warfield by George Washington University Television Studio after they finished taping his Lectures in June 2000. The title of this video is: “The Mathematics of Structure.” The title is in the SERIES "Managing the Unmanageable" a set of videos filmed in the year 2000
(HARK! THERE IS ANOTHER VIDEO WITH EXACTLY THE SAME TITLE “The Mathematics of Structure,” BUT FILMED AT A DIFFERENT TIME FOR A DIFFERENT SERIES OF LECTURES. This other title was in the Johnson Center Complexity Lecture series, and used for Johnson Center Complexity Lecture No. 6 videotaped on 2 Nov 1998.)
Of the series of 14 planned MTU lectures, Warfield filmed No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5, No. 7, No. 9, No. 13, and No. 14 at GW-Television. No. 1 of his series had been taped several months before, on 23 Feb at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. Observers of the June 2000 videos might notice that John’s delivery often seems wooden. That is because he was really tired and coming down with another bad chest cold while he was trying to do the videos, but he persisted, thinking it better to use the filming opportunity, even though he knew the quality would suffer from such a crowded schedule. 19 June 2000 was the last day of filming, with 20 June being the day we left town for good. We caught the Auto Train at Lorton, Virginia and headed south to Florida, while our furniture followed by truck.
Warfield had planned five more lectures to make a complete series of 14 tapes. But he did not have time to do the videotapes for those remaining five before leaving town. The PowerPoint slides for all 14 lectures are on Warfield's computer, in file folder MTU2000. The slides are also on Rose's computer, in c:invnrwslide showmtu2000 Manuscript copies of the PowerPoint slides FOR ALL 14 OF THE PLANNED LECTURE SERIES are in Box 21 of Warfield Special Collection at Fenwick Library, George Mason University. The VIDEOS MADE WITH THESE SLIDES WERE NOT DONATED TO GMU because Warfield has not yet completed work on the series of lectures. For extra details on the MTU Lectures, SEE ALSO: NOTE for ID 239,.
