MTU2000 Slides to accompany the Year 2000 Video Lectures

This is a group of PowerPoint slides created in 2000 or earlier for use with a videotaped lecture series titled MTU2000, The Video Lectures. The slides are now digitized as PowerPoints on Rose's Dell computer. There are no paper copies.

NOTE: MTU2000 IS AN OBSOLETE COLLECTION, AND HAS BEEN ARCHIVED. IT IS NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION ONLINE because of possible confusion with a more recent slide collection to which John gave the name "MTU 2007 Managing the Unmanageable PowerPoint Slide Collection (CD)."

There are gaps in this numbered collection of files. This series of lectures is incomplete because not all the planned lectures were written nor was any filming done for them. All that John got finished was the Title pages in WordPerfect, later converted to Powerpoint, for the  Lectures numbered 6, 8, 11 and 12. There are fourteen titles, and John even prepared fourteen title pages, but he was unable to complete the  four unfinished videotapes. He was always hoping to finish the series after retirement, but never did so because of limited funds, limited video studios in the small towns in which he lived after retirement, as well as his own limited time because of his book writing, publishing and speaking engagements after retirement. He commented at one time that the ideas and thoughts for the four unfinished lectures did not evaporate, that he had written, lectured and published on these subjects after retirement, but he never consolidated those last four titles into the lecture series as he had planned. So what we have for four lectures is  only the TITLE PAGES, not any videotape, nor any PowerPoint slides other than  the title pages.

Here is the list of John's first set of PowerPoints, called the "MTU2000 Slides"

All were created in the Year 2000 or before the Year 2000.

Three additional slide shows found a little later had original dates of 1999 and July 2001, which might have been in the planning for future films:

MTU No. 20 (Friedman & Harary  theorems)

MTU No. 25 Understanding Complexity

MTU No. 26 Interactive management

Beginning in the year 2001, John Warfield began switching from WordPerfect transparencies to Microsoft Powerpoint slides.  His MTU2000 slides were augmented and edited in various ways and entirely replaced  by a new set of PowerPoint slides known as MTUbytheNumbers, which he continued to expand for several years. Finally, in the year 2007 John collected and organized all of  MTUbytheNumbers, in a new Slide Collection titled "MTU 2007 Managing the Unmanageable PowerPoint Slide Collection (CD)" which was donated to GMU Libraries.

Viewers will see that on the PowerPoint slides and also in the video lectures John asks viewers to read his book A STRUCTURE BASED SCIENCE OF COMPLEXITY. Please note that THERE IS NO BOOK TITLED STRUCTURE BASED SCIENCE OF COMPLEXITY. Due to publishing delays with Kluwer Publishing John eventually changed the title to UNDERSTANDING COMPLEXITY, and published the manuscript himself as the first book produced by Warfield's AJAR Publishing Company, in 2003. However, the book manuscript remained essentially the same with just the title changed.
