Introduction to an Interactive Management Session

Summary: Pending

We have a 1992 version, but Ben later reformatted it in May 1993. Ben Broome's 1993 2-page paper telling participants what to do and what to expect was used by Scott Staley as an appendix to a Ford Motor Company 1996 white paper for Ford PNGV technical team members preparing for a workshop. Ben's entire paper can go on front and back of a single piece of paper, and Scott Staley printed it that way, on bright pink paper, and attached at the end of his white paper's white pages. This is one of two Ben Broome articles both treated the same way by Scott for his white paper. Ben's other article: "Overview of the Interactive Management System" is also a 2-pager, Scott printed it on bright yellow. quote from Ben's paper, 1st paragraph. "Overview: Interactive Management (IM) is a facilitated, computer-assisted approach to group work with complex issues. An IM session is typically conducted with a group of 8-12 participants who are knowledgable about the issue being addressed and who represent a variety of views of the situation. Normally, the group meets for a period of 3-5 days, often followed at a later time by additional sessions. A work plan is carefully developed prior to the working sessions through interaction between the workshop planner and a representative of the organization."
