SUMMARY: This is just a one page pdf of scanned graphics, to help keep the titles all straight. This figure appeared in the SGSR 1986 Proceedings was later reprinted in Design Inquiry, Volume 1, the compendium of 1985-1986 Proceedings articles printed and distributed by Bela Banathy in 1987. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The paper was first distributed by Christakis as a Center for Interactive Management paper. Later he presented it at the SGSR CONFERENCE in Philadelphia, and it was published in the SGSR Proceedings. The scanned PDF file copy which I have on home computer is not from the Proceedings, but from a compendium of 1985-1986 Proceedings articles printed and distributed by Bela Banathy in 1987. ABSTRACT: "A theory of design has been developed leading to methodology for generic design, including roles and applications. The theory is based on a reconceptualization of design, developed from fundamentals. The fundamentals include a new cosmology capable of doing away with the dualistic attitude..."

ANNOTATION: A theory of "three separate worlds which are coupled together into a single cosmos." is the basis for Aleco's paper, which uses some of the materials presented by Warfield in 1985, at the SGSR conference in Los Angeles. Aleco also used one of Warfield's drawings as a figure in this paper; the conceptual drawing of the interrelationships of the "cosmic partition." I remember Aleco talking about his paper in February 1986, while we were all in our car driving to the Virginia Beach conference where Aleco would give the presentation. Aleco explained "cosmic partition" to me. John wrote so many papers that I hadn't bothered to read his 1985 paper and had been too timid to go hear John in his Los Angeles talk, so the partition idea was all new to me. It was a very interesting concept to me, sort of mind stretching - and Aleco explained it simply and well, as he usually explains things. Aleco explained it so well that it seemed as if he himself had written the paper, which surprised me. "Aleco," said I, "Did you think up that idea? That's wonderful!" Aleco laughed and said "No, your husband thought it up, it is all his idea. I am going to just give a talk about it at Virginia Beach". This was O.K. with John, who was driving the car. John just smiled. John was one who wanted his assistants to be a part of a group. He helped them with their talks and papers and steered them toward opportunities, believing he would get the best teamwork that way. It worked pretty well with Aleco and the others, for a time. At Virginia Beach in February 1986 a very small systems conference was being held. Participants gave talks, but nothing was to be published. Several staff and students from John's new Institute at George Mason University came to give talks at this conference and hopefully to publicize the new Center for Interactive Management which was just getting started at George Mason University. John gave a paper on Typology of Laws. David Keever talked about the Center for Interactive Management and displayed one or more of John's figures. I remember seeing the Domain of Science Model during Keever's talk. Christakis gave his talk about the Cosmic Partition and used the Cosmic Partition figure from John's 1985 paper.
