These notes are written to give some background to Community Operational Research, and the work of Prof Michael Jackson, one of its pioneers, who will be leading a seminar on the topic at the Cape Town offices of the Triple Trust Organization (an NGO that trains emerging entrepemeurs in business start up skills ) on Fri, Nov 7 at 2pm. Community Operational Research endeavours to put science, in all its disciplines, in the hands of those working to promote well-being rather than simply create wealth. Prof Jackson and his colleagues appear to have valuable lessons to share with interested South African civil society formantions.
