Francois wrote this at John's suggestion and encouragement, and John submitted it to Systems Research Journal with suggestion that they print it as recognition for Francois' recent completion and publication of his International Encyclopedia of Systems & Cybernetics, recently published in Munich, Germany, by Verlag. Amanda Gregory, the Systems Journal associate editor, asked John to edit the manuscript to correct the English. John did this, and the edited manuscript was sent by email to Amanda on October 5, 1997. Warfield Special Collection C0016 at Fenwick Library contains Francois' original Systems Profile manuscript, and also a copy of John's edited version of the manuscript
