Abstract: The legacy of Thomas Jefferson may not be appreciated by th e SMC Society. He was a systemm-level thinker who used better methods in many ways than that we espouse today, and usually sought larger va lues than we pursue. He blended casuistry, scientific method, and eng ineering method in pursuit of freedom, justice, and universal educatio n which leave much to emulate today.
