The Impact of Structural Modeling on the Creation of New Perspectives in Problem Solving Situations. PROC Congres Europeen de Systemique, CES1 Tome II (1989) 915-932.

Results of research study by  Ioannis Kapelouzos: After a problem has been considered carefully using other Group Decision methods, it is found that group participants will often view the problem in a new light after they have looked at it with the aid of a well-run Interpretive Structural Modeling session.

Was published in Proceedings of 1989 European Congress on Systems Science, Lausanne, Switzerland, AFCET, October, 915-932. (PROC Congres Europeen de Systemique, CES1 Tome II (1989) 915-932.) This paper is significant because it provides empirical support of John Warfield's theoretical paper titled "Spreadthink: Explaining Ineffective Groups" published in Systems Research 1995. (John has said of his Spreadthink article: "One of the most important papers I have ever published." ) Any scholar who looks at John Warfield's 1995 Spreadthink paper should also have access to this, the Kapelouzos paper written circa 1985, published 1989.

The Kapelouzos  paper is in IASIS File  at ITESM Library in Monterrey, Mexico and David Hacker Library in Fort Belvoir, Virginia but apparently the copy sent to GMU library has been misplaced, since it is not listed online in the Warfield Collection Finding Aid when Rose checked for the title in August  2014. In September 2014 Rose sent message to the author who lives in Greece, asking if he might send another copy of his paper, which he did by email PDF file, and it is the document we now have on PDF, it is the author's pre-print manuscript, double spaced. Ioannis sent me the copy he knew would be clearest and easiest for students to read. It does not have the Proceedings cover page, because it is his preprint manuscript, but it is the accurate and legible version. NOTE: I am sorting last of the Warfield papers now, and there will be a few other items to be sent to GMU for archiving, and will include this Kapelouzos paper with the list and shipment.(R.W. September 6, 2014). Note: not good to send papers yet, Special Colllections Library is moving to new offices. (r.w. circa 2015).

In the year 2016, after a two year wait while the Library at George Mason University was undergoing a massive remodeling and expansion project into a new building, we waited for the time to send Iannis's paper so it would be sure to get accessioned and cataloged. Finally in February the time was ripe, the Special Collections department had finally finished their move into the new quarters and moved the boxes of the John Warfield collection along with them.  Rose phoned the Library, got in touch with the major archivist Mr. Jordan Patty, who accepted an email attachment which got cataloged into the GMU Digital Collection in only two weeks.  Rose sent Email to Iannis  and also snail-mail letter with the information on how to view the online paper, it is at the GMU Library under this url: http://digilib.gmu.edu/jspui/handle/1920/10076  Rose will also send a hard copy version to Mr. Patty, in a forthcoming shipment of Warfield papers, but that will take longer to get cataloged and put away, I am sure.
