The speech by Walker Percy was televised May 3, 1989. This document is a transcript of the speech which Percy read from a paper, this is probably the paper he read from. The transcript WAS SENT TO THE SPECIAL COLLECTION DEPARTMENT AT GMU, BUT IT IS NOT IN THE FINDING AID OF THE WEB SITE, SO EITHER THEY DID NOT WANT TO KEEP IT, OR THEY HAVE LOST IT, OR MAYBE WE STILL HAVE IT HERE SOMEWHERE? This is PEIRCE related material, should be cross referenced with John's other Peirce collections. typed transcript from a Televised lecture on Wednesday, May 3, 1989. The author discusses the structure of thought and learning and its relation to scientific discipline and knowledge. John marked it on his list SBSOC" meaning Structure Bound(sp?) Science of Complexity, a paper to use as reference on this topic and to save for use by future students. The video of Mr. Percy giving this speech is on C-Span video. tHE URL FOR THE CSPAN IS https://www.c-span.org/person/?walkerpercy
Probably available copies can be had from National Endowment for the Humanities. But this copy is very good should be saved. This is a precious paper. GMU should have a copy. I should keep it and scan it if GMU doesn't want it.
