Abstract: This introduction to Charles S. Peirce's elegant logic diagr explains the elements and operations of the Alpha and Beta parts of the system. These parts, together, constitute a complete and consistent treatment of elementary logic. Statements and inferences involving quantifiers and relations are presented and explained, typical methods of proof are illustrated, and a proof of the consistency of the system is given. A brief sketch is presented of Peirce's attempts to extend the system and of current work on a computational model of Alpha and Beta.
