This is not a paper it is a 13 page printout of a web page showing a PowerPoint slide show advertising the virtues of Dr. Dan E. Whitney's DSM (Design Structure Matrix) Prof Whitney was Qi Dong's Ph.D. supervisor. The date on the printout is 9/22/99, 9:32 AM from a web site now unavailable: (http:web//web.mit.edu/dsm/DXM_WORKSHOP/Qi-Dong.htm.
Qi Dong's paper was on the web for a while, but is no longer available. Prof. Whitney published a paper which included some of her powerpoint slides, but I didn't examine the papers closely enough to determine how much of it was Qi Dong's work. Whitney attributed some pages to qi Dong. but she was not named as co-author. Whitney's paper is:
Requirements Driven Design Process - A Case Study to Explore the Validty and Limitation of the Method, In S. Eppinger, D. Whitney and A. Yassine, editor, 3rd Design Structure Matrix Workshop, Cambridge, MA, 29 and 30 October 2001.Publisher: Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, 2001 .
John sent Qi some papers in 1998, but don't know which ones. He sent her a lot more stuff in September 1999, including a draft of his ASBOC book
Qi Dong was a student in John's July 1998 seminar series at Ford Motor Company. She was one of their brightest and best. John remained in touch with her for years. She is now Mrs. Neil Hommes, and has a baby, maybe more than one baby by now?
Attached to Qi Dong's paper is a 2nd powerpoint slide show a 12 page printout, this one by another Whitney student, Mr. Greg Mascoli. I just scanned it in at the end of Qi Dong's powerpoints. Makes the entire files a lot of powerpoint slides, I don't know if it is worth the bother but John did seem to want to save her paper, or he wouldn't have boxed it up for moving.
