Appearing here in print for the first time are the Warfield 'QUADS', overlapping triangular figures called “tapestries” which produce a greater effectiveness in describing and understanding quantitative and qualitative factors in the same formula. New interpretations of the terms 'dimension' and 'dimensionality' are given to provide a better description and understanding of complex systems. This paper was presented in Atlanta, 16 October 1986.
Warfield's comments on this paper, written in his 1987 manuscript "Integrative Sciences": DIMENSIONALITY A paper which is complementary to the later 1987 paper with the same title. In this paper, the concepts of "Options Field" and "Quad" are explained in reference to design, and top-down design is formalized as the development of a set of quads which are knit together to form hierarchies of quads."
In 2015 I hunted for this paper on the web and could not find it. However I know it exists, because we have a PDF scanned copy of the paper, and GMU has the actual publisher's reprint in Box 9 Folder 22. I think we should go ahead and offer as a "Free Download" at least for the time being pending further developments (Rose Warfield, June 21, 2019)

My home computer has the citation on this as: CH2364-8/86/~000-1118$1.00 © 1986 IEEE
But I see the dev-jnwarfield.com citation in the Title statement has this string which I do not understand and do not know anything about. Does anyone know how or why in the dev-jnwarfield.com version the string has been changed to: CH2364-8/86/~000-1118$1.00 ┬® 1986 IEEE
