Discusses the problem of errors in science caused by basic language definitions of terms used in any given science are not universally coherent. Attempts to synthesize the science of definition by use of mathematical theory, including the introduction of a new mathematical concept which he calls “Gradation of Belief.”

Asserts that large-scale systems are being designed with the same philosophy as small-scale systems and argues that this is a significant factor in their failure. Calls for scholars and professionals to work with political leadership to develop standards for large-scale system design and strive for world-wide legislation that would protect humanity against irresponsible design of systems which produce world-wide consequences. Presented at the International Society for General Systems Research, 1-6 June 1987, Budapest, Hungary. See also, “Magical Number Three,” also presented at this conference.

IM Justification Project

An unfinished paper, the beginning sentence is: "This document strives to capture the linkages between Interactive Management and underlying science.”

A letter addressed to Jane Zhao who was preparing an agenda for Warfield's expected visit to Shanghai. Provides a brief summary of the Interactive Management methodology and explains why working with complexity requires a different method.

IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Society letter notifying Warfield of award of the Millennium Medal, 27 January 2000.

Congratulatory letters from Dillard, Graham Hereford, Wade, Melsa, Malone, Harold Chestnut, and from Norris Nahman for receiving a Fellow Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Warfield wrote this paper as a supplement to a 1988 Facilitator Training Manual compiled by the Center for Interactive Management staff. The CIM Facilitator Training Manual was a large 3-ring notebinder. This 16 page memo from Warfield is not listed in the manual Contents, but can be found in an “Additional Study Materials”  section of the manual. Warfield’s memo lists seven different roles for Interactive Management work and then defines and gives primary duties and responsibilities for each person in each role.
