Applications in Industry & Government; Applications in the U. S. Food and Drug Administration

The third lecture given as part of the Johnson Center Lecture Series on Complexity. Dr. Alexander N. Christakis of CWA Ltd. discusses his work with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Part of a series of 12 lectures on complexity given at the Johnson Center, George Mason University.  First of three lectures on topic of Applications. A video of this lecture is available as Complexity Lecture No. 3.

Unfortunately slides or transparencies from Christakis' lecture materials were unavailable, all we have in the IASIS printed booklet of audience handouts is a MEMO PAGE,  making note of the lecture date which was October 5, 1998.  However, there is a video of the lecture, with camera work done by GMU student video center. The single VHS cassette is in Box 67 of GMU Warfield Special Collection.  It was a good videotape, and a very good presentation. We sent a copy of the tape to Christakis at his request,  free of charge. The FDA received an INNOVATIONS IN GOVERNMENT award for its accomplishments as the result of the work performed for them by Dr. Christakis.   Christakis was assisted in the presentation by Kevin Dye of CWA Ltd. (Kevin had been an attendee/student at Warfield's week-long May 1998 IM Workshop) and by two colleagues from FDA Marilyn Van Hoose and Judy Carlston, who spoke at length during questions and answers period about their work with the CWA methodologies.

A videotape recording of this lecture is on VHS video; please refer to the title  "Applications in Industry & Government: Applications in the U. S. Food and Drug Administration Johnson Center Complexity Lecture No. 3".
