Book Review: Human Systems are Different, by Sir Geoffrey Vickers

Warfield’s review of Sir. Geoffrey Vickers, Human Systems Are Different (London: Harper & Row: 1983).

Book Review of Human Systems Are Different by Sir Geoffrey Vickers, London, Harper & Row (1983). ISBN 0063 182629. John's manuscript of the book review was donated to GMU July 12, 2004. This article was a contribution to a planned special issue on Vickers, to be published by Systems Research. Warfield sent it to the special issue editor in fall of year 2003, but heard nothing back. Finally in June 2004 Warfield sent message to the Systems Research book review editor, Mr. Zhichang Zhu. Mr. Zhu requested Warfield send him a copy of the Vickers book review, and will probably print it as a regular book review if the special issue does not materialize. The book Human Systems are Different is out of print. Warfield has tried to locate copies for his friends to read. He sent copy of the review to Mark Maggio in Iowa and also to Jim Finkelstein at GMU hoping to interest them in Vickers’ work. He also sent offer to publish a reprint of the Vickers' book if his family would consent. This publication offer was sent to Michael Jackson, editor of Systems Research, because Warfield did not know how to contact the Vickers family. Michael Jackson has not replied on this. Through Warfield's interest in the work of this philosopher, another book of Vickers has been reviewed by Mark Maggio, and will be printed in Systems Research this year. Warfield has loaned his own copy of Human Systems are Different to Scott Staley.
