Box 76 Folder 13 at GMU Library contains the 1987 Society for General Systems Research Yearbook edition of this article, reprinted 2 years after its first publication in the Society's Proceedings. Box 76 Folder 13 folder also contains the Yearbook itself, the hard cover volume in which this article is published. SAME TITLE IS LISTED IN BOX 9 FOLDER 34 it was published twice, first as proceedings paper and then as yearbook article. As a presentation paper in May 1985, this talk was titled only: "Some Laws and Principles of Design." Later, when published in the Proceedings, the rest of the title was added, and remained the same for the 1987 Yearbook version. (Also in Box 76 Folder 13 is the 1985 Proceedings version and a set of transparencies used in the original presentation. Through some sort of oversight during the printing of the conference proceedings, Warfield's published conference paper did not contain any of the transparencies used in his talk. As a consequence, his figure titled "RELATING THE BLOCKS OF THE COSMIC PARTITION" WAS NOT PUBLISHED WITH HIS 1995 PAPER.
Warfield's paper was first presented at an SGSR conference in May, 1985. It was one of two papers which he presented at that meeting, the two papers were given together, one after another, as I recall. The other paper was titled "On the Choice of Frames for Systems Studies" ANNOTATION: Writing on the fundamental principles of design which later developed into his 1990 book, the author discusses the generic aspects of design, how they may be conceptualized and studied and introduced into learning processes. Interactive Management and its Options Field/ Options Profile processes are described, as useful tools for design.
