Editorial (1988)

Originally written for the Editorial Board of Systems Research journal. Contains suggestions for the future development of the journal and urges a gradual change of editorial pattern toward a representation of a Domain of Science model in printed form. Suggests classifying the manuscripts received into the differing branches of science, followed by subdivisions of the editorial function, using a number of editors, each responsible for manuscripts in one well defined scientific field. A future possibility of integrated scientific, philosophical and technical knowledge is the goal.

This article was first written in 1987, in letter form, and sent to the Editorial Board of Systems Research journal. It publication date as a journal article was 1988. GMU finding aid lists it as 1987 in their catalog list but I am pretty sure it is the 1988 article which is in Box 76 Folder 30, although I have been figuring out its location by long distance using the internet to view the catalog. The paper contains suggestions for the future development of the journal Systems Research, in which the writer urges a gradual change of editorial pattern toward a representation of a DOMAIN OF SCIENCE model in printed form, by classifying the manuscripts received into the differing branches of science, to be followed as soon as practical by subdivisions of the editorial function, using a number of editors, each responsible for manuscripts in one well defined scientific field. A future possibility of integrated scientific, philosophical and technical knowledge is the goal.
