Education Papers by Warfield is a manuscript collection of 50 papers in 7 volumes.
Education Papers by Warfield was printed and distributed in 1996 as a six-volume compendium in loose-leaf binders. It contained publisher's offprints, government reports, research reports, conference papers, proceedings papers, and unpublished manuscripts. Compiled under an overall title of "Education Papers by Warfield" the 1996 six-volume set is dedicated to Walter J. Bogan and Alexander N. Christakis, two colleagues who were influential and supportive in Warfield's development of Interactive Management. Hardcover copies of the six volumes were printed by IASIS in 1996, and have been donated to both men. In addition the 6-volume set was available in a set of loose-leaf note binders at one university library (Dept. Educational Services & Research, Center for Special Needs Populations, Ohio State, Columbus).
Materials in the 6 volumes were donated by Warfield, not sold. He asked that persons desiring the 6-volume set reimburse him only for costs of photocopying plus the secretarial work required to assemble the manuscripts. Warfield also decided to try and get all the volumes re-typed into a MS WORD format, for consistency in printouts, and we hired Bonnie Seitz to do the work. Except for Volume 6, every paper in every volume was re-typed by Bonnie Seitz* as a camera-ready set of books, with page numbering and indexing, and title pages. Bonnie also redrew all of the old graphics and other illustrations, creating each as a new computer file in MS WORD-6, or sometimes in CorelDraw or PaintBrush if the graphic was too complicated for WORD. In 1999 Warfield decided to add his Wandwaver monograph to the set as a 7th Volume. In September of 1999 we shipped a hard copy of the seven volume set to Prof. Davidson Anyiwo, Bowie State Univ, Maryland, who is planning to edit the collection into something he can get published. Davidson also was given a copy of all of Bonnie's MSWORD computer documents, on a ZIP disk, so he can work with the complete manuscript as he has time.
If any kind of a book is published of this collection, there are a lot of publisher's permissions which will need to be obtained, since some of the documents are published articles in journals. The only hard copies remaining in Warfield's office were his spiral bound printouts of all seven volumes, which he sent to George Mason University Library Special Collection & Archives in year 2000. There are 49 papers in the collection, (plus, in 1999, an added 50th paper, the "Wandwaver" a very long piece which was made into Volume 7 at that time). Each paper is separated by a numbered divider, from 1 to 49. The papers are arranged chronologically, beginning with 1968 reports that Warfield did for Ohio Department of Education, continuing with the most significant of the many papers and reports he contributed to the field of Environmental Education. Then there are many papers from the years during which he tried to improve the philosophy which guides engineering and systems education at the university level, and finally, there are articles he wrote in the 1990's, when he concentrated on educational design, meaning not merely curriculum design, but a redesign and restructuring of the entire system of higher education in the United States.
Each paper is preceded by an Annotation Page which summarizes the paper and also gives as many location resources as possible, not only citations for the published works, but also all the ERIC Clearing House numbers where many papers are available on microfiche, and the World Catalog (OCLC) Accession numbers, with information on library holdings of certain titles. Many of these papers are to be found in the IASIS File, and if so the IASIS File Number is given. The IASIS File papers are in the libraries at INSTITUTO TECNOLOGICO Y DE ESTUDIOS SUPERIORES DE MONTERREY, Monterrey Mexico, and at David D. Acker Library, DEFENSE SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT COLLEGE, Ft. Belvoir, Virginia.
