“Essays on Complexity” is a manuscript collection of 21 papers in 3 volumes. Consisting of 21 of his better papers compiled by John himself in 1997 this collection was assembled for publication as a BOOK. It has 529 pages. Warfield sent it to a number of his colleagues for review. (I know of one comment he received about the Essays, a short letter of praise from Heinz von Forster in Calif. Warfield treasured that letter from Forster a person whom he greatly admired) George Mason University has scanned this entire 529 page report and added it to GMU's Warfield Digital Collection as three PDF files. “Essays on Complexity” was completed In early August 1997, when Warfield combined three of his working volumes into a one-volume 529 page manuscript, with a new preface. The pagination is not continuous, each volume is paged separately, and also indexed separately. There is no single index for the entire 529 pages. The manuscript was so large that it did not fit on a single floppy disk, so Warfield had to store it in separate files, to be printed separately and then combined into one large volume.
