Sent to GMU 27 September 2007. This is a series of 14 PowerPoint transparencies used in a classroom lecture at the University of Hull, England, on 2 July 2001, as part of a summer school session provided by the University's Business School to students from ITESM, in Mexico. Warfield prepared ten of the slides on 8 September 1999, I don't know what for, probably some 1999 lecture? Anyhow, he incorporated the ten slides as part of his first day of lectures for the Mexican students, during his 5-day lecture series. Later he enlarged the PowerPoint lecture to 14 slides, but not until after the Hull lectures were over. Warfield developed this slide lecture after he had received a fax message from George J. Friedman in which Friedman explained his work with Northrup Corporation. In the slide lecture John discussed Friedman's Constraint Theory and then other things (The full title of the PowerPoint presentation is: "QUALITY CONTROL IN MODELING COMPLEXITY: FRIEDMAN, HARARY, and ASHBY CONTRIBUTIONS", MTU #20. The slide show is available in digitized form, on a compact disk in a Warfield Special Collection folder, titled "Managing the Unmanageable PowerPoint Slide Collection" which is going to GMU in fall of 2007. Friedman's fax message is also in a Warfield Special Collection folder going to GMU in fall of 2007 ) This lecture was planned by Warfield to be Number 20 in a series of videotapes to be called "Managing the Unmanageable." Note: Warfield died in 2009 still hoping he might complete the videos some day, but living in Alabama had restricted opportunities to find quality filming studios, so there was no continuation of the series, this video was never made. r.w.
