(In the case of presentations, or talks, sometimes no formal manuscript was ever done, but we keep a record of the talk and the date and place it was given, just in case some papers on this event might turn up later then we would know where to file them. ) This was an invited presentation, given during the Management College faculty's long-range planning retreat at Airlie House, in 1986. Warfield's invitation came about because one of the DSMC faculty, a man named Fred Waelchi, had read or heard some of Warfield's presentations at the 1986 SGSR Annual Meeting held in Philadelphia in May (I think it was May) Waelchi contacted Warfield, and wanted to know more about ISM and was instrumental in arranging for Warfield's presentation at the Airlie House conference. Following this, the first DSMC workshop took place, conducted by Warfield's Center for Interactive Management, on15- 17 December 1986.
