Presented as a colloquium paper at the October 8, 1992 Colloquium of The Institute of Public Policy at George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia, this report describes the system of intermittent management practice called "Interactive Management" which is based on a new science called the "Science of Generic Design" … has been in development for over a 22 year period beginning in 1970. A 1990 book by Peter Senge urges similar ideas of systems thinking, but fails to specify the methodology for putting these ideas into practice. Interactive Management, by contrast, does supply and specify the methods and processes which can be used to develop the ideal of a "Learning Organization". Table 1 and Table 2 of this article are dated September 1992, when they were first used as part of a 4 page PRESENTATION PACKAGE titled 'Design and the Learning Organization'.
