Products from Florentine Conference and Editor's Discussion of Products from Conference

A summary of work done by a small group discussing ways to develop music and arts education centers nationwide. The “Florentine Conference” was organized by Ray Evans Harrell, a New York City musical entrepreneur, a talented musician and voice teacher who wanted to experiment with Warfield's Interactive Management process in the field of music. See also, “Warfield to Ray Harrell, protesting bad IM Workshop plan, 15 March 2004." Conference held in Alexandria, VA, 25-27 May 2004.

"Products from Florentine Conference" was written by Warfield. It consists of about fifty loose pages in a folder at Fenwick Library; digitized files are also on Rose’s Dell computer. The pages serve as summary of work done by a small group discussing ways to develop music and arts education centers nationwide. The “Florentine Conference” was organized by Ray Evans Harrell, a New York City musical entrepreneur, a talented musician and voice teacher who wanted to experiment with Warfield's Interactive Management process in the field of music. John Warfield attended as an observer, not a participant, and donated his services by writing a concluding description of the event. “Editor’s discussion” was Warfield’s terminology for his description of a meeting to discuss ways to develop music and arts education centers nationwide. The Warfield description consists of several separate files, WHICH WERE PRINTED OUT AND COMBINED, UNPAGED, AS AN INFORMAL REPORT SENT TO RAY HARRELL IN JUNE, 2004. Several photographs were taken at the meeting, and it was audiotaped by Ray Harrell. I am not sure where those photos and tapes are, if they turn up I will save them. Ray and Warfield although at loggerheads off and on, remained friends, and chatted by phone frequently after we retired and moved to Alabama.
