Proposal: A Users Guide to Systems Methodology,, Proposal to National Science Foundation

A proposal to the National Science Foundation that Warfield carry on the work with Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) from his new job at the University of Virginia. For further information, "A User's Guide to Systems Methodology.”

In 1977, someone at the NSF had been interested in ISM, and had asked Warfield to try continuing the work from his new job at UVA, by submitting a proposal containing elements of Warfield's Battelle activities using ISM. The proposal, although originated and steered through to the National Science Foundation by Warfield, has A.P. Sage as author, and Sage is also listed as "Principal Investigator and Project Manager" while Warfield is Co-Principal Investigator. This situation came about because Warfield's duties as new chairman of a very large Electrical Engineering department with lots of administrative problems left him little time to administer the proposal, AND SO HE ENLISTED SAGE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROPOSAL AS A CO-PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR.
