Joe and Mary Simpson were attendees at the last full workshop study program offered by John, in summer of 2007. At that time, John had given the workshop attendees a large quantity of printed material connected with his work, including a syllabus of his 2007 summer workshop. In addition to the 2007 workshop sessions, Mary, a Boeing systems engineer, had been in attendance at earlier week long workshop offered by John, at Monterrey Tec in Mexico.

This manuscript is the printout of a slide presentation given by Mary Simpson while attending the INCOSE conference in July 2010. What follows is an excerpt from an email message she sent Rose Warfield on July 15 following the conference:

“I was invited to present 'Warfield' materials at the INCOSE International Symposium that has just ended in Chicago, Illinois. INCOSE has started a "Systems Science Working Group" internally, and held a one day workshop within which I gave this presentation. This one day workshop was interesting, and more than a little scary. There were (predominantly) academic speakers - talking about "systems science" -

and it became clear that all are speaking a different language. They do not appear to have had a solid grounding in the classical literature to which John refers, and upon which John based his Systems Science. One pointed question from a workshop participant was "Is anyone officially authorized to teach Warfield's work?"
