THEORY AND PRACTICE OF MODEL MANAGEMENT: Management/Design/Manufacturing (MDM) Support System [A PROPOSAL]

The document advances ideas for continued training workshops for Ford Motor Company engineers.

Warfield proposes his MDM system to meet the auto company’s needs during the upcoming “transformation of the practice of design and manufacturing into a system where the computer is used to the maximum extent possible in carrying out these activities. While the computer is the front-line means for doing this, the behind-the-scenes means of doing this and the heart of the transformation lies in the development, testing, evolution, and overall management of a system of models.”

This proposal merges Warfield's Interactive Management (IM) System with the Friedman-Leondes Constraint Theory (CT) in a scheme that involves large numbers of small models aggregated into a system of models.
