Warfield proposes his MDM system to meet the auto company’s needs during the upcoming “transformation of the practice of design and manufacturing into a system where the computer is used to the maximum extent possible in carrying out these activities. While the computer is the front-line means for doing this, the behind-the-scenes means of doing this and the heart of the transformation lies in the development, testing, evolution, and overall management of a system of models.”
This proposal merges Warfield's Interactive Management (IM) System with the Friedman-Leondes Constraint Theory (CT) in a scheme that involves large numbers of small models aggregated into a system of models.
