Designs for the Future of Environmental Education, Vol. II, Final Report

For use by teachers when planning environmental education curricula, emphasizing need for a wide, interconnecting systems approach, with descriptions of how interpretive structural modeling techniques can generate genuine systems training. This the second of a two-volume report contains lesson plans, or teaching units, for classroom work. Click here for Volume 1. Note that the U.S. Department of Education issued a booklet bearing the same title a year later. Their contents differ. For the 1981 version, see Designs For the Future of Environmental Education: Energy, Environment Economy, Education, Ethics.

Contract #300-700-4028 submitted to Office of Environmental Education, U.S. Dept. Education (Univ. of Virginia Report UVA/522032/EE80/127). Known unofficially as the "Units" this is the second volume of Warfield's 1980 final report on his Environmental Education research contract. Volume Two contains lesson plans, or teaching units, for classroom work. This second volume is not on microfiche; there seem to be no ERIC records available for any Volume 2, at least not that I could find in my library database searches. However Volume 2 of the Final Report has proved to be the most valuable for teacher training in this field. Warfield referred his students to Volume 2 frequently, but not very often to Volume 1. There is a hard copy version of both Volumes ONE and TWO in Warfield Special Collection at GMU’s Fenwick Library. Further searchers must go not to ERIC, but look instead for World Catalog ACCESSION NO: 7451984. Classification number: S946.D40.  For persons wishing an electronic copy, there is a perfectly wonderful camera ready MS Word document of this entire REPORT on pages 215 -374  of EDUCATION PAPERS BY WARFIELD Volume 2. It was done by Bonnie Seitz as part of a big typing job of many of the Warfield papers, in 1999.
