Contract #300-700-4028, submitted to Office of Environmental Education, US Dept. of Education (Univ. of Virginia Report UVA/522032/EE80). This is Volume ONE of a two-volume FINAL REPORT submitted to Office of Environmental Education, U. S. Dept. of Health, Education & Welfare, for a project supervised by Walter J. Bogan, Jr. Reporting on a series of research and development efforts at the University of Virginia, the research projects in these two volumes are intended to produce approaches, methods, and basic resources needed to improve local capabilities in environmental education program design and implementation. Volume I is available from ERIC on microfiche however a significant Appendix 2 in Volume ONE was removed by ERIC due to copyright restrictions. (Appendix 2, titled "Systems Planning for Environmental Education" IEEE-SMC, Vsmc-9 n12 December 1979, pp.816-823 was a previously published article by John Warfield in which he had described his Options Field/Options Profile methodology in print for the first time.) Volume ONE contains: 1. an analysis of the requirements of environmental education, 2. a series of organizational models 3. a description of how existing resources apply to the models developed, and 4. an outline of an approach to evaluation. To test and refine the products developed through this research, a comprehensive REGIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL LEARNING SYSTEM is recommended.
Volume 2 of this final report, a more practical second volume, with lesson plans, was not cataloged or filmed by ERIC, as far as I can tell. However both Volume 1 and 2 are listed in OCLC and are held by at least four university libraries in the U.S.
