Sent to GMU 27 September 2007. At GMU in Box 91 Folder 15 are printouts of slides and also of talk outline. A PowerPoint slide presentation created April 15, 2002. This PowerPoint slide number was used TWICE by Warfield for two different slide shows. First, in the year 2000 for his "Metrics of Complexity" video lecture 5, and here again in the year 2002 for his "Design of Organizations" Chihuahua lecture at ITESM. The Chihuahua lecture was not videotaped. The talk was given 19 April 2002. Hugo Salinas-Price was also there and gave a lecture to the students urging them to resist inroads of foreign banking interests by adopting a silver standard in Mexico. Warfield had been the one who got Hugo invited by suggesting Salinas-Price name to Hector Chinolla, the student from the Conference Staff Committee who had contacted Warfield and arranged our visit to Chihuahua. The materials sent to GMU contain correspondence from Hector Chinolla, printouts of 45 slides and an 8 page manuscript of a talk outline which Warfield had prepared in January and February of 2002. Please go to Access database ID Number 1279 to view the talk outline which accompanies these POWERpoiint slides.
===== Hector took us on a tour of Chihuahua while we were there, we went to the museum and saw parts of the city. Mike Jackson was also there and gave a talk, as I recall. We also met a Mr. Roberto Palacios who might have been the Virtual University's Dr. Palacios, but I am not sure. We went out to a supper at a restaurant with Mr. Salinas Price. He had two body guards. The restaurant was emptied of all other customers while we were there with Salinas Price and a few others, including one of the ITESM students, I don't remember if Hector was at that supper. He escorted us most of the time but also had another student helping. ===========
The Spanish name of the conference was Sin Restricciones #5, ITESM Systems & Industrial Engineering Congreso Internacional de Ingenieria Industrial Here are some names of other people we met while in Chihuahua. Dr. Julio Rodolfo-Castello, dean of Industrial & Sys Engineering, and academic Program Director at Chihuahua ITESM Javier Franco - Advisor and director of the Student conference activities at the Systems conference Manuel Prieto - one of the students who drove us around, took us to the airport and also met us when we arrived, along with our official escort who was Hector Chinolla. Manuel's finace is named Dulce, a law student, she came along on trip to airport. Jorge Rios - not a Systems student, but instead in Mech Engineering on a football scholarship funded by Univ of Florida, nice young man he came along to the trip to Pancho Villa museum, had lunch with us that day. He was helping out because he speaks English fairly well and they needed English speaking guides. Karla Padillo - this sweet young girl was one of Warfield's guides during his last trip to Chihuahua, and she came up to say hello, she is about ready to graduate by now. She had a boyfriend whom she introduced also, but I cannot recall his name. Ernest Franco - one of the student guides/escorts who assisted, I think he was the one at the dinner with Hugo Salinas Price and Mike Jackson, at the Mesquite Café the last night we were in town. Roberto Palacio - At first I understood this person to be a colleague of Mike Jackson, attending the conference to see Mike, but only later when checking our records did Roberto Palacio the name appear again, and I believe this was probably the same Dr, Roberto Palacios with whom John Warfield had made a Virtual University video lecture two years earlier (in April 2000, connecting Dr. Palacio's class in Mexico City with Dr. Warfield at the Whitlock Studio in Tampa, Florida.) Ana Karla Aguilera - this cute little apple-cheeked girl was the student coordinator for the entire conference, the Coordinator General very busy and efficient it seemed. She came with us on our ride to the airport when we left on Saturday morning.
