Organizing the Complexicon: Transforming Complexity into Understanding (Complexicon without text)

A graphic flow chart displaying the 13 categories as an interrelated seven-level structure. It is intended to represent the field of Systems Science and its tools for dealing with complexity. For further details, see “The Complexicon: Transforming Complexity into Understanding (A Seven-Level Structure with Notes)” and “Managing the Unmanageable PowerPoint Presentations.”

This is one of two similar flow chart figures created in July 2003 with the idea that they be used in a journal article. Warfield called this one “Complexicon without text,” a seven level structure without any small-font numbers inside the flowchart boxes. It is a graphic of a FLOW CHART displaying 13 categories as an interrelated SEVEN-LEVEL structure. For details, please read the Access database record on the companion figure, a seven level structure WITH notes titled The Complexicon: Transforming Complexity into Understanding and also Access database record title Managing the Unmanageable PowerPoint Presentations (THE COMPLEXICON TABLE).

This “without text” figure was not published with Warfield’s 2003 article, but was printed in his 2006 book. Both versions of the seven-level flow-chart figure are in Warfield Special Collection, as PowerPoint slides No. MTU1000 and MTU1001, on a compact disk in Box 96, Folder 4. The earliest date I can find among Warfield’s old computer files for this figure is 26 June 2003. (r.w. circa 2011)
