The Anachronistic Executive

Contends that management space is defined as a communication space, divided in two by a cognition partition, one part of which is the normal space, and one part of which is incompatible with typical executive behavior. When executives enter this part of the space it causes anachronistic behavior to take over and results in undesirable consequences.

This is one of several papers collected on a DVD (DVD 2 of 2) donated to GMU in March of 2008. DVD 2 is in Box 96 Folder 6 of Warfield Special Collection in Fenwick Library. There is no hard copy of the paper. On the DVD the file name is 04-ANACH-EXECANACHRONISTIC EXECUTIVE Also Rose put a digitized copy of the paper in her JWPAPERS folder, with a filename "The Anachronistic Executive."

Abstract, written by Warfield: Management space is defined as a communication space, divided in two by a cognition partition, one part of which is the normal space, and one part of which is not compatible with normal executive behavior. When the executive invades this part of the space, anachronistic behavior takes over and undesirable consequences typically ensue.
